Introduction to North Coast Snorkeling

INTRO TO NORTH COAST SNORKELING
Ready to plunge into the cool, adventurous waters of Northern California? Join us for this fun, hands-on intro to North Coast snorkeling course designed to introduce you to our local ocean environment while boosting your safety and enjoyment of snorkeling. This one- or two-day experience* will have you gaining comfort and confidence in cold water under the guidance of our professional instructor. You’ll learn essential skills including:
- Evaluating conditions and site selection
- Buddy techniques and communication
- Safe entries and exits
- Equipment setup and use
- Equalizing techniques
- Breath-hold basics and relaxation
- Weight checks and buoyancy awareness
- And more, to ensure safe, enjoyable snorkeling
Class Requirements
- Minimum age: 15 years old
- Completed medical form and waivers
- Ability to swim comfortably
- Equipment required:
- Personal snorkeling equipment - mask, snorkel, fins
- Neoprene for warmth - 7mm wetsuit, cold water hood, gloves, boots, weight belt
- Minimum 2 participants
- Private lessons available upon request. Fees vary.

Purchase Equipment
Your own mask, snorkel, fins, and other personal gear are required for the class. For maximum enjoyment, comfort, and performance in our cool Northern California waters, we strongly encourage you to own your personal snorkeling equipment, most importantly your mask, snorkel, and fins.Why? Getting familiar with your own gear helps you relax, move efficiently, and focus on the fun of exploring—many students find it transforms their experience.
As a registered student, you'll receive a discount in the store on any purchases. Stop by to try on gear, get expert fitting advice from our team, and take advantage of the savings. We’re happy to help you select quality pieces that fit perfectly and last for years of adventures. Bring any personal freediving/snorkeling gear you already own to the shop ahead of time for a quick evaluation to ensure it’s suitable for class.
Equipment Rentals
If you do not own your own neoprene, we've got you covered:- Special for our students: $50 "Neoprene Package" includes wetsuit (5mm or 7mm as needed), hood, gloves, boots, and weight belt—perfect for our chilly ocean conditions.
- Students are entitled to a discount on equipment purchases for this class.
Training Day Details
- Pick up your rental equipment (if needed) at our store on a pre-determined date (one day prior to class).
- Meet at the designated ocean location at 9:00 AM (arrive 15 minutes early).
- Ocean session duration: 2 hours, depending on conditions and group.
- *If you have no prior snorkeling experience, a required 2-hour pool session must be completed first (scheduled separately).

Fees
- Ocean participation: $200 per person (2-person minimum)
- Required 2-hour pool session (for beginners): $75 per person (2-person minimum)
- Private lessons: Custom pricing based on dates/times—contact us to arrange.
Your safety is important to us. Before signing up, please print and fill out this Medical Form.
To participate you must have adequate swimming skills, be in good physical health, and properly fill out a medical questionnaire.
- Please note: a medical evaluation by your doctor may be required to properly complete the medical form. Please complete the medical questionnaire first, so you have time to schedule a doctor's appointment, if needed.
- There are no refunds for failing to properly complete the medical form.
Cancellation Policy
We ask that you are committed to your dates before you sign up for class. You may cancel or change the date up to 3 weeks prior to your class date with a 4% processing fee. Any cancelations or date changes after the 3-week cut off will incur a $50 fee per student. Starting 1 week prior to your class date there are no refunds for cancelations or transfers. Failure to show up or call will forfeit your tuition. If you do not complete all your skills in the pool, or Open Water Dives. Private Dives can be scheduled at an additional cost. Tuition is non-refundable once your class begins, completed or not.
