PADI Open Water Training Dives
Ready to Dive into the Ocean?
After mastering the basics in the pool, it’s time to take the plunge with your Open Water Dives! Over two days, you'll repeat the skills learned in your pool training during four exciting open water dives, set against the backdrop of beautiful dive locations like Monterey, and the North Coast.
What to Expect:
- Open Water Dives: 4 dives over two days
- Travel & Lodging: Not included
- Locations: Check the calendar for dive sites.

To access your PADI dive log and certification card, download the PADI App from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
Your Required Personal Equipment:
Please note, personal equipment is not included in the cost of tuition. Make sure to bring the following:
- Mask
- Snorkel
- Fins
- Neoprene boots
- Surface Marker Buoy (SMB)
- Safety Whistle
- Hood
- Gloves
All other scuba gear is available for rent. The rental fee is $100 and includes:
- BCD (Buoyancy Control Device)
- Regulator with dive computer
- Wetsuit
- 2 tanks
- Weights
The rental period covers Friday through Monday. Standard rental rates apply for late returns.
Rental Equipment Pick-Up & Return
- Pick-up: Friday before your class
- Return: Monday after your class (equipment must be washed before returning)
Tip: Consider purchasing your own scuba gear ahead of class so you can become familiar with it during training. As a student, you receive a Lifetime Discount at Seals Watersports—just introduce yourself when you come into the shop! Or shop our website and use code SAVE@SEALS.
Reserve Your Gear
Come by the shop as soon as possible to get fitted and reserve your rental gear. Equipment is first come, first served, so don’t delay! Fill out the Student Form to help us with your sizing.
Class Cancellation Policy:
We ask that you commit to your class dates when you sign up. Please note:
- You can cancel or change your date up to 3 weeks prior with a 4% processing fee.
- Any cancellations or changes after the 3-week cutoff will incur a $50 fee per student.
- Starting 1 week before class, there are no refunds for cancellations or transfers.
- Failure to show up or call will result in forfeiting your tuition.
- If you don’t complete your skills during the open water dives, private dives can be scheduled at an additional cost.
- Tuition is non-refundable once your class begins, regardless of completion.
Important:
Please review the medical form prior to signing up. Rescheduling due to needing a physician’s approval is subject to the same policy.
Training Day Details:
- Time: 9:00 AM – approximately 5:00 PM
- Arrival: Please arrive 15 minutes early to secure parking and bring your gear to the dive site.
- Location: Dives are held at Monterey (San Carlos Beach), and the North Coast. Please check the calendar for specific dive locations.

Failure to bring your gear in for inspection will require you to rent or purchase equipment. |
